IMAGINE
THAT...
… you had attended EWQA’S
Danbury
,
Connecticut
Road Show. You’d have
participated in a very special opportunity for networking, training, and
establishing the association’s agenda.
You’d have experienced
classes that were specifically geared for the “hands on” technicians in your
business -- classes designed to be detail oriented and to give participants
information with immediate practical applications.
And, finally, you’d have
participated in a lively discussion of the association’s purposes and in
building EWQA’s agenda for the future.
In addition, we had a record turn
out of vendors (18) for a road show.
ATTENDEES
SPEAK OUT
At the May 14 Road Show,
President
Greg Gruett
moderated a discussion on how the association could be more effective in
meeting member needs. Below is a
synopsis of comments and suggestions that were made:
- There is a higher need among dealers for
business information and training than for technical information;
- There is a lack of awareness of industry
innovations that needs to be addressed in training;
- A focus on communications through sales reps
and distributors may prove more effective than traditional methods of
recruiting and/or getting information out;
- EWQA could supply speakers for
manufacturer’s educational seminars and thereby have an opportunity to
promote knowledge and the association as well;
- The new generation of industry professionals
does not rely on the “relationship” model that made conferences and
trade shows popular in the past;
- The association needs to develop positions on
a few key issues and make the positions available to members;
- The association needs a
voice/contact/reporter person in each of the EWQA states for the purpose of
providing information and building a member network in the state; and,
- The association should continue developing a
focus on legislative issues and public education.
The above comments came from dealers, manufacturers and suppliers. Do you
agree? Disagree? “Weigh in now”.
